Review: Around the Buoys: A Manual of Sailboat Racing Tactics and Strategy by Michael Huck Jr.

This is a very easy to read book on buoy racing and is a very good starter book for the beginning racer.

It has very good illustrations which explain the concepts very well. However, because the target market of this book is the starting racer, it will have to be supplemented by other books on strategy and tactics since the information is by no means complete.

I recommend it to the new racer but I also recommend the book "Performance Racing Tactics" by Bill Gladstone as a book to follow this up. In other words, this is a good first pass and then Gladstone's book should close the gaps in basic knowledge.
